Okay so we know we all like a good bargain... but why are we so reluctant to spend money on one of the most important safety features for your child? We spend money on other items such as a TV, a computer, and a stereo. When we buy those items most of us prefer to purchase the newest and the best models. Why should this be any different when buying your child a car seat? Any professional writing child car seats reviews will say you are a lot better to buy brand new. Don't just make do with second hand cheap child car seats - your child is worth every penny!

Safety experts will advise you not to buy a second hand car seat, especially from a stranger. If someone tells you that the car seat hasn't been in an accident, why should you believe them and take their word for it?

Reasons why to buy brand new:

1. A car seat is one of the first things you will buy for your baby and you have the time of your whole pregnancy to save up for one. You will need one from day one as you will need this to get your baby home from the hospital.
2. Child car seats age, and for this reason some second hand seats may have expired. They may also not be up to the current safety standards.
3. You never know if the car seat has been in an accident.
4. A good child car seat could save your child's life - an investment well spent!
5. New car seats come with full instructions which show how to fit them correctly in your car.
6. An old seat can be worn out and faulty without anyone being aware there's a problem.
7. The latest products on the market are always the best choice for the job as they have the latest thinking factored into them.
8. A second hand car seat is not worth risking your children's safety 'just because the seat was cheap'.
9. The fabric of the car seat harness can stretch up to 9% during body impact in the case of a crash. It is impossible to see whether this has happened to the second hand car seat and the fabric never regains its original elasticity. If already stretched, the harness will never have that vital 'give' again.
10. A new car seat is more likely to be easier to use and much safer than one that was purchased several months or years ago.
11. New car seats come with a guarantee, so if there is a problem with the seat, you can return it.
12. Most baby car seats reviews and child car seats reviews I have read, professionals say what to do - buy brand new! Strapping your baby into a quality seat that you KNOW is safe = peace of mind = PRICELESS!

Always remember to make sure the car seats you currently use are up to date and up to the current safety standards. If it has expired, it is time for a new child car seat!
