| What a Child Car Seat Is For |
| 8/21/2009 by Kerri |
• A child car seat is for restraining your child in the car so that they are safe whilst riding in the car. It is recommended that you own a child car seat for your child even if you do not have a car. You never know when you will need to use it. If a friend or member of family, for example, are giving you and your child a lift to the shops etc your child will need to be using the correct restraint. Another example would be in the event of an emergency etc and someone is giving you and your child a lift to hospital then your child should be using the correct restraint. You should make sure you also use the correct restraint for your child in a taxi. It is against the law not to use a child car seat for your children. Always make sure the car seat you use is suitable for your child’s height, size and weight. Children from birth right up to the age of 12 years old or 135cm tall (whichever they reach first) must use the correct restraint whilst riding in a car. Rear facing seats are the best car seats for infants as they are safer.
