| 3/10/2010 by Kerri |
When you have young children in the house it is very important that every room is child proof. Basically there should be no dangers that could get in the way of your child. Kitchen safety for children is one of the most important. Kitchens contains all sorts of dangers, but this can be sorted with some simple easy steps. Here are some tips for kitchen safety for children: 1) Many people keep their cleaning products under the sink. This is a bad idea when small children are around. This way the cleaning products are within easy reach for little ones, and it can be extremely dangerous if your children get hold of them. Keep all cleaning products high up out of reach of your children, or even put away in a secure locked cupboard.
2) Store items like glasses and china either high up out of reach of your children, or keep them in a lockable cupboard. 3) When using the cooker, use the back rings rather than the front (unless you have too many pots on that you need to put it on the front). Turn the handles of the pots / saucepans toward the back so that your child can't pull it off the cooker or tip it over. 4) Make sure anything dangerous such as knives, glasses, and hot food are not near the edge of the counters and tables, push them towards the back. 5) Use child safety locks to secure cupboards and drawers and even the fridge so that your child can not get into those. This means less hassle for you as well as keeping your child safe. 6) Use a safety gate in the kitchen doorway so that your baby / toddler can not enter the kitchen. 7) Do not leave your child unattended while you cook the dinner. Putting your child in a playpen is the best way to keep your child safe while you are busy. There are many more things you should do when it comes to kitchen safety for children. The tips I mentioned above are only a small number of things you should do when it comes to kitchen safety for children.
