| Car Seats For Babies |
| 2/24/2010 by Kerri |
Car seats for babies are very important to use whilst travelling with your little one. Your baby must be secured in a suitable babies car seat (rear facing car seat if they are still very young – usually weighing under 13kg) whilst travelling in the car. Please note that babies car seats are measured for suitability with babies weight. You should regularly weigh your baby to make sure the babies car seat they are using is still suitable for them. Most rear facing car seats here in the UK, are only suitable for babies who weigh up to 13kg, although you should read the instruction manual to check the weight limits for the specific car seat your baby is using or going to use. Once your baby weighs more than the weight limits for a rear facing car seat, they move up to the next type of safety seat which is a forward facing car seat. It is very important that your babies rear facing car seat is installed correctly in your vehicle. Never attempt to fit the car seat until you have thoroughly read through the manufacturers instruction manual. This is very important. Your baby must be tightly secured in their rear facing car seat before your drive off. Make sure the harness belt is tight enough that you can only pass two fingers underneath the harness belt against your child. It needs to be tight enough to hold your baby safely, but not too tight that it causes any discomfort for your baby. Car seats for babies are a very important safety product to own if you have a baby in your home. You are best to purchase a rear facing car seat before your baby is born so that you are prepared for leaving the hospital with your little one.
