Baby Safety Products – Bathing
 2/24/2010  by Kerri

Bath time can be a very fun time for you and your baby. To make sure your baby has fun at bath time, you can allow them to play with bath toys. Your baby will love playing with bath squirter's and floating bath toys like a rubber duck or boat for example.

For parents, their baby's safety is top priority. Safety is very important when bathing your baby. One baby safety product that you could purchase to make your baby safer in the bath is a bath seat/chair. Those help to keep your baby sitting in the same place, which means they have less chance of dipping under the water and stops them from falling under. Although, you must never leave your baby unattended in the bath, even if they are sitting in a bath seat/chair. A bath seat is only suitable for babies who can hold their head up and sit up on their own unsupported.

Another baby safety product you can purchase to keep your baby safe in the bath is a bath thermometer. The ideal bath water temperature would be 37 degrees, but a bath thermometer would make the process of checking the water much easier and more accurate for you. Check the temperature before putting baby in the bath.

One of the best tips we can give you for making sure your baby is safe is, make sure you have everything you are going to need (shampoo, baby sponge etc) as close to the bath as possible so that you do not need move away from the bath at all. Babies must be supervised at all times when they are in the bath, so don't let anything distract you. If your door bell goes or your phone rings, just ignore it.

Don't fill the bath up too deep, your baby only needs enough water for you to be able to wash them. We recommend filling the water up to your baby's belly button height. This will be enough water for a baby who can sit up themselves unsupported.

Clean and rinse the bath afterwards to keep the bath nice and clean, especially if your baby has had a little accident whilst sitting in there!

You may find bathing your baby much easier if you purchase the baby safety products I recommended earlier in this article.
